Discover Effortless Aging with Hormone Therapy for Women

There's real substance to the notion that every woman is different. No two person's attitudes, bodies, or goals in life are ever exactly the same. But if there's one thing that every person shares, it's that our bodies change as we get older. That's especially true for females over the age of 50. One day you wake up, roll out of bed, and attack the day with vigor and positivity.

The next day, it seems like your emotions are out of control. Despite dieting and healthy life choices, your weight won't go down. It seems like you're having to deal with uncomfortable hot flashes every other hour of the day. Life can be hard after 50, especially when it seems like your body is plotting against you.

Service Areas

But the truth is, these changes are a completely normal part of the aging process for women. As you might be aware, this change is called menopause, and according to the NIH, more than one million women go through it every year. This change in life marks the end of your period. During this time, your hormones begin to deplete, causing a range of symptoms that can be difficult to deal with without professional help. Some of the most common symptoms of menopause include:

  • Hot Flashes
  • Vaginal Dryness
  • Low Libido or Sexual Desire
  • Mood Swings
  • Lack of Focus
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Chronic Tiredness
  • Increased Body Weight

Trying to juggle and cope with the symptoms of hormone deficiency can be rough for women and their partners because many of them are linked to nutrition, stress, and lack of exercise.

Fortunately, getting older and going through menopause doesn't have to be the worst time in your life. Hormone replacement therapy for women in Ocoee, FL, can help correct the imbalances in your body that are brought on by menopause. These safe, proven treatments from NV Medical Orlando can help balance your hormones during menopause and even help you reclaim your youth.

They started out manufacturing plantation shutters only and a couple years later began manufacturing all exterior window coverings also.

How Does Hormone Replacement Therapy for Women Work?

At NV Medical Orlando, our HRT treatments for women include the use of pellets, which are about the size of a tic-tac and contain hormones like estrogen and testosterone. These pellets are implanted subcutaneously to supply your body with the hormones it needs. Each pellet contains a tiny number of bioidentical hormones that are released steadily into your bloodstream for up to five months.

Unlike other sexual health centers, every HRT treatment provided by our women's sexual health clinic is tailored to our patients. While natural hormone replacement therapy is effective for many women, every patient is different. That's why it's important that you speak with a board-certified doctor, like Gina Kirkpatrick, before starting any HRT treatment to make sure it's right for you.

Is HRT for Women in Ocoee, FL, Right for You?

Benefits of Hormone Replacement Therapy for Women in Ocoee, FL

Most women who consider natural hormone therapy are curious about its benefits and the results of long-term clinical investigations. Who wouldn't be? When it comes to the symptoms of menopause, natural estrogen therapy can be incredibly effective for conditions like lack of sleep, weight gain, excessive sweating, mood swings, and more.

In addition to promoting overall health, HRT for women can help reverse sexual symptoms of menopause, like vaginal dryness and general discomfort during intercourse.

When used as part of a comprehensive preventive healthcare plan, HRT can be an invaluable tool for women. That's because hormone therapies like estrogen treatment have been shown in clinical investigations to reduce the risk of serious concerns like osteoporosis and bone loss.

But that's just the start. Clinical studies report a wide range of HRT benefits, including:

  • Improved Mood
  • Better Memory
  • Improved Concentration
  • Longer and Healthier Sleep
  • Fewer Hot Flashes
  • Less Chance of Depression
  • Optimized Vaginal Health
  • Improved Muscle Mass and Strength
  • Improved Blood Pressure

Your HRT Timeline

As we mentioned earlier, no two women will have the same hormone levels or HRT therapy needs. As such, every woman's timeline for menopause relief will be different. Generally, however, a standard HRT timeline may look like this:

week 1

Around week one, many women notice that they experience fewer hot flashes than normal. Some women notice these improvements only a few days after their first treatment.

week 2

After about two to three weeks of HRT for women in Ocoee, FL, many women notice that they have less irritability, anxiety, and fewer mood swings. During this phase, hot flashes should continue diminishing, and sleep may improve. Other benefits of HRT, like increased libido and more energy, are also expected during this phase.

week 3

Starting around weeks three to four, many HRT patients will notice drastic improvements in menopausal symptoms.

week 4

Around weeks five and six, it's common for women to notice physical differences like healthier skin, less hair loss, and even weight loss. With time, these improvements become even more pronounced.

Additional Services for Optimal Female Health

At NV Medical Orlando, we don't only treat our patients for sexual health and wellness. Because Dr. Gina Kirkpatrick is a fellowship-trained urologist, our clinic has the capacity to treat all matters related to sexual health and wellness, including certain urologic conditions.

Rejuvenation

Vaginal Rejuvenation

Have you started to notice that things “down under” are different than they were years ago? Are you experiencing disconcerting symptoms such as:

  • Burning
  • Irritation After Sex
  • Dryness
  • Urinary Incontinence
  • Unfulfilling Intercourse
  • Vaginal Laxity (Lack of Tightness)
  • Diminished Lubrication During Intercourse

If you've noticed any of the above symptoms, you may be dealing with vaginal or pelvic floor laxity. For women dealing with these issues, vaginal rejuvenation often answers their problems. Vaginal rejuvenation is an umbrella term that covers several vaginal corrective procedures. These procedures can correct problems that occur after giving birth or during menopause.

Traditionally, these conditions have been treated with invasive surgeries and with supplements like vaginal estrogen or hyaluronic acid. However, modern treatment options like laser vaginal rejuvenation are growing in popularity and can help women avoid the pitfalls of surgery.

In fact, study centers around the world are using monopolar radiofrequency for vaginal laxity in premenopausal women. Studies show that treatment is safe and helps improve vaginal laxity and other sexual dysfunctions. Additionally, anecdotal evidence shows that patients have less urine leakage when coughing, laughing, sneezing, and exercising.

If you're unsatisfied with the appearance of your vagina or have noticed increased looseness or diminished lubrication, don't lose hope. Vaginal rejuvenation, HRT for women in Ocoee, FL, or a combo of the two may be right for you.

Dryness

Vaginal Dryness

The primary cause of vaginal atrophy or vaginal dryness is the reduction of estrogen. Typically, women lose estrogen during and after menopause. Childbirth and hysterectomy can also be causes that reduce estrogen production. To help women restore natural levels of estrogen, thereby treating vaginal dryness, NV Medical Orlando offers three types of therapies:

Vaginal Therapy

Estrogen cream is applied intravaginally at night to improve vaginal blood flow, lubrication, and elasticity. Alternatively, women can choose s Hyaluronic Acid Vaginal Suppository, which provides hormone-free relief from vaginal dryness. This treatment is best for women who cannot undergo hormone replacement therapy.

Minimally Invasive Vaginal Therapy

Viveve Radiofrequency Technology, which uses cryogen-cooled radio frequencies to heat and cool vaginal tissue, is designed to improve:

  • Blood Flow
  • Vaginal Lubrication
  • Vaginal Laxity
  • Stress Urinary Incontinence

This popular treatment is performed discreetly, is painless, and usually takes less than an hour to complete.

Systemic Therapy

HRT for women in Ocoee, FL, can be administered as oral pills, creams, pellets, or as injections under the skin. The specific type of hormones, their delivery mechanisms, and dosage levels are determined on a patient-by-patient basis after a detailed history, physical exam, and laboratory study.

Low Libido in Women

If you're a woman who finds herself lacking sexual desire or the act of sexual intercourse, you're not alone. In fact, research from 1999 shows that as much as 22% of women in the U.S. report low sex drive. Though this issue is often underreported, its causes and the available treatments are well-known.

Causes of low libido in women include:

Surgery

Hysterectomies often result in a drastic drop of testosterone and estrogen in a woman's body. This drop in hormones has been linked to low libido.

Medications

Some medicines that are used to treat depression and anxiety, specifically SSRIs that inhibit serotonin, have been demonstrated to reduce sexual arousal.

Hormones

Estrogen affects blood flow to vaginal and genital tissues. Reducing estrogen, which can occur during and after menopause, childbirth or surgical menopause created secondary to a hysterectomy can result in reduced vaginal blood flow and lubrication.

Overall Health

Studies on post-menopausal women have demonstrated that patients in poor health report lower sexual desire. In fact, symptoms like chronic pain, fatigue, and mood swings caused by chronic illnesses all contribute to decreased female libido.

Though low libido and the effects of unbalanced hormones can be concerning, treatment is available at NV Medical Orlando. First, a thorough physical exam and health history will be conducted to help our experts develop an optimal treatment plan for you. During your evaluation, you may be asked to complete a questionnaire that helps us assess your symptoms further. That way, we can craft an appropriate treatment regimen to address your symptoms and concerns.

The type of treatment recommended depends on your identified needs and may include hormone replacement therapy for women, vaginal treatments, oral medications, sexual therapies, or additional treatment regimens.

International tourism in Orange County should return to pre-pandemic levels by end of 2024, experts say

“When we first purchased the store, our children were 5 and 7 and would help out around the store,” said Royetta Ginther, who has owned the franchise store with her husband, Dennis, since 1994. “Now their children are all around the same age and are beginning to do the same as their parents and spouses now begin to take over our family business.”

Find every episode of Florida Foodie on YouTube:

The children were why the Ginthers first bought the location, which was originally on the corner of Maguire Road and State Road 50. Dennis Ginther was a director of operations for the Pizza Hut chain at the time and he and his wife were looking for a way to be home with the kids more.

That’s when they learned the original owner of the Ocoee Twistee Treat was looking to sell. They said they were able to make a deal for the business and have been running it ever since.

In 2006, they opened a location in Lake Buena Vista. Eight years later, they opened a shop with their name on it, Ginther’s Swirls, on International Drive.

When the landlords of the original property decided to sell it to the gas station, they allowed the Ginthers to move the shop to the parking lot and put in a drive-thru, which can be quite busy, especially during the summer months.

Aside from now offering vegan and dairy-free options with their popular soft serve, the Ginthers say not much else has changed for their business, and they partially attribute their success to their longtime employees and customers. They say they still hear from employees who now have families of their own.

“The managers of our Ocoee store, Angie, and Erika, the manager of our Lake Buena Vista store, both started with us when they were 16 years old and have been with us approximately 22 years. We owe much of our success to them and the scores of others that have worked with us over the years,” Ginther said.

The Ginthers say they are hoping to complete a remodel of the store in the fall so they can start selling scoop ice cream, in addition to soft serve.

OCOEE, Fla. – Orange County Public Schools celebrated the groundbreaking of the new Orange Technical College campus on Ocoee Apopka Road.

The new campus will be located behind Ocoee High School and it will replace the OTC West campus on Story Road in Winter Garden.

“A lot of things have gone into this. A lot of planning,” Deputy Superintendent Michael Armbruster said.

Armbruster explained this has been in the works for many years and he’s happy to see what’s to come.

“When we built the institutional model we looked at different schools and different areas and this one being in this area, construction is a huge employer here and with all the building going on that’s a real focus for us so we can train the work force that are contractors need out there to build homes and businesses that we are having built all around right now,” Armbruster said.

The 115,000 square foot building will offer students training programs in construction technology, electricity, cosmetology, and other hands-on careers.

Most programs enroll students every nine weeks.

Marcos Romero, who came from Venezuela, enrolled in 2016 with OTC and is now a building contractor.

“Even when they didn’t understand my English, they always tried a way to find to help me, they do hard work and saw how the teacher worked to help the students make them a good professional and a good person,” Romero said.

Adult students must be 16 years or older and withdrawn from their high school to be admitted to OTC with the exception of dual enrolled students.

The new campus is set to open in fall 2024.

The city of Ocoee is celebrating a new hidden treasure in its community.

Phase 1 of the city’s Florida Friendly Demonstration Garden opened May 22, located next to the Ocoee Lakeshore Center at 125 N. Lakeshore Drive.

The city is encouraging residents to stop by and take a look at the garden, which seeks to promote water conservation practices through Waterwise and Florida-Friendly landscaping.

“The ultimate hope is that the garden will demonstrate to homeowners how to be cost-effective and conserve water through a design that they would want to see in their homes,” the city’s Utilities Department and Development Services Department said in a prepared statement. “Florida-Friendly plants are non-invasive and can thrive in Florida’s natural climate. They minimize the use of water for irrigation, avoid the runoff of excess fertilizers and pesticides, and provide habitats for wildlife. Although Florida has water everywhere, the supply of the Florida Aquifer is not endless and the majority of water usage is on landscaping.”

The garden is part of the St. John’s River Water Management District’s consumptive use permit.

City officials said the garden’s design and location were carefully selected to showcase landscape plant materials and techniques in support of the city’s sustainability goals.

The garden previously existed as the POWR Park and was located on the corner of Bluford Avenue and City Hall.

“The city repurposed the area for parking in 2020 and had been debating the new location for the park,” the city’s involved departments said. “In 2022, the location was decided and work began on the new POWR Park, which during the process was renamed to the Florida Friendly Garden.”

The garden design is a collaborative effort across multiple city departments, with help from the University of Florida’s Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences and the SJRWMD to ensure that all aspects for Florida-Friendly and Waterwise landscaping are incorporated into the design.

The garden includes a water-saving irrigation system to promote water conservation, as well as a variety of plants.

“The garden provides examples of environmentally friendly (Florida-Friendly) and water conserving landscape design with low maintenance needs while maintaining curb appeal,” city officials said. “It includes site-appropriate plants grouped by water need, and the irrigation system has been designed to provide the appropriate supplemental water needs during dry periods. Staff carefully selected plants that offer a variety of texture and color and are readily available at local stores.”

Plants were selected based on the Florida Friendly Landscaping Principles that are set forth by the UF/IFAS.

“They are plants that are well suited to Central Florida’s climate, can grow in the garden’s current conditions (sandy soil), are drought tolerant and require minimal watering once established,” the city’s departments said. “With the exception of a few flowers, plants were also chosen based on the availability of local nurseries or home improvement stores, making the majority of plants easily accessible to Ocoee’s residents.”

About 17% of the plant species in the garden are native to Central Florida.

Phase 1 of the garden took about a year to complete from planning to breaking ground.

The city is now looking ahead to Phase 2, which includes the installation of interpretive signage throughout the garden. The signs will have details on the plant species and how to best care for them.

“The garden demonstrates that there are ways to use less water to irrigate the landscaping and help conserve one of the Earth’s most valuable resources,” the city said. “Once established, they require minimum water for irrigation, protecting water resources and saving our residents both time and money. These plants are ones that will not further degrade the environment of Florida, but rather work within it.”

CHRIS ADKINSA 46-year-old Florida native born in Winter Park, Chris Adkins spent his life moving around in the counties of Orange and Seminole and sometimes, Eustis — where he helped out on a chicken farm by grabbing eggs, bailing hay and learning about hard work. Adkins’ parents married young and were together for less than a year, so he found himself often with his grandparents, who he said taught him honesty, respect and integrity.

With a background in multi-store sales, operations management corporate auditing and growth for Genesco from the mid-1990s through 2006, Adkins realized all the hours he spent traveling started to take their toll. So, he and his wife, Cori, opened a small property management company that was later adapted — after the recession — to include corporate housing. The Adkinses have two children — Nash, 21, and Jett, 18.

How did you find your way to Ocoee? When I found out my wife (Cori) was expecting, I was the area manager for Central Florida. So, Ocoee was a place that was helpful to move around for work. It was also a place were my father’s side of the family lived. So at 23 years old, I bought us our first home in Historic Brentwood Heights.

Why are you running for the mayor seat? I am (very) aware of the fact Ocoee has the highest millage (tax) rate in Orange County to comparable cities. It has for more than a decade, and in addition, (it’s) something that really frustrates me.

Our city adopted non ad-valorem fees as well — first starting with a firefighters fee. Now having (three) fees totaling more than $400 (added/in addition to your taxes), that go into the general fund. Not even for what they say, then distributed throughout the budget. (Even) being used as collateral to secure the bond we received in October 2017.

(The) efficient, productive, and accountable use of funds is where I’m disappointed. The city management and leadership has misled the taxpayers and citizens of Ocoee. … I’m running to get us back on track, accountable, transparent and most of all stop what I consider waste.

What is your vision for the city?We need to hold developers accountable or make better decisions on who we work with. As a city, we need to grow but not at warp speed, full of apartments while neglecting so much of our city.

Sidewalks, resurfacing and expansion of our main infrastructure arteries has to keep pace. I will be sure to see exactly were we stand on these issues.

How do you differ from the other candidates? At the end of the day, I am just a family man who cares about where I live. … I don’t own a bunch of properties or real estate. I don’t have developer friends or agreements with anyone but the taxpayers. It’s simple: I’m not a politician. I have a skill set that can help my city and no vested interest financially.

My opponents are both seasoned politicians. Mayor (Rusty) Johnson has held office in Ocoee for nearly 40 years. … George Oliver is a Super PAC-funded commissioner (who) just won re-election recently. So, I’m not sure why he is running, (because) he has two years still left holding office on his current term. His move cost taxpayers a significant amount of money.
