Discover Effortless Aging with Hormone Therapy for Women

There's real substance to the notion that every woman is different. No two person's attitudes, bodies, or goals in life are ever exactly the same. But if there's one thing that every person shares, it's that our bodies change as we get older. That's especially true for females over the age of 50. One day you wake up, roll out of bed, and attack the day with vigor and positivity.

The next day, it seems like your emotions are out of control. Despite dieting and healthy life choices, your weight won't go down. It seems like you're having to deal with uncomfortable hot flashes every other hour of the day. Life can be hard after 50, especially when it seems like your body is plotting against you.

Service Areas

But the truth is, these changes are a completely normal part of the aging process for women. As you might be aware, this change is called menopause, and according to the NIH, more than one million women go through it every year. This change in life marks the end of your period. During this time, your hormones begin to deplete, causing a range of symptoms that can be difficult to deal with without professional help. Some of the most common symptoms of menopause include:

  • Hot Flashes
  • Vaginal Dryness
  • Low Libido or Sexual Desire
  • Mood Swings
  • Lack of Focus
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Chronic Tiredness
  • Increased Body Weight

Trying to juggle and cope with the symptoms of hormone deficiency can be rough for women and their partners because many of them are linked to nutrition, stress, and lack of exercise.

Fortunately, getting older and going through menopause doesn't have to be the worst time in your life. Hormone replacement therapy for women in Apopka, FL, can help correct the imbalances in your body that are brought on by menopause. They started out manufacturing plantation shutters only and a couple years later began manufacturing all exterior window coverings also.

How Does Hormone Replacement Therapy for Women Work?

At NV Medical Orlando, our HRT treatments for women include the use of pellets, which are about the size of a tic-tac and contain hormones like estrogen and testosterone. These pellets are implanted subcutaneously to supply your body with the hormones it needs. Each pellet contains a tiny number of bioidentical hormones that are released steadily into your bloodstream for up to five months.

Unlike other sexual health centers, every HRT treatment provided by our women's sexual health clinic is tailored to our patients. While natural hormone replacement therapy is effective for many women, every patient is different. That's why it's important that you speak with a board-certified doctor, like Gina Kirkpatrick, before starting any HRT treatment to make sure it's right for you.

Your HRT Timeline

As we mentioned earlier, no two women will have the same hormone levels or HRT therapy needs. As such, every woman's timeline for menopause relief will be different. Generally, however, a standard HRT timeline may look like this:

week 1

Around week one, many women notice that they experience fewer hot flashes than normal. Some women notice these improvements only a few days after their first treatment.

week 2

After about two to three weeks of HRT for women in Apopka, FL, many women notice that they have less irritability, anxiety, and fewer mood swings. During this phase, hot flashes should continue diminishing, and sleep may improve. Other benefits of HRT, like increased libido and more energy, are also expected during this phase.

week 3

Starting around weeks three to four, many HRT patients will notice drastic improvements in menopausal symptoms.

week 4

Around weeks five and six, it's common for women to notice physical differences like healthier skin, less hair loss, and even weight loss. With time, these improvements become even more pronounced.

Additional Services for Optimal Female Health

At NV Medical Orlando, we don't only treat our patients for sexual health and wellness. Because Dr. Gina Kirkpatrick is a fellowship-trained urologist, our clinic has the capacity to treat all matters related to sexual health and wellness, including certain urologic conditions.

Rejuvenation

Vaginal Rejuvenation

Have you started to notice that things “down under” are different than they were years ago? Are you experiencing disconcerting symptoms such as:

  • Burning
  • Irritation After Sex
  • Dryness
  • Urinary Incontinence
  • Unfulfilling Intercourse
  • Vaginal Laxity (Lack of Tightness)
  • Diminished Lubrication During Intercourse

If you've noticed any of the above symptoms, you may be dealing with vaginal or pelvic floor laxity. For women dealing with these issues, vaginal rejuvenation often answers their problems. Vaginal rejuvenation is an umbrella term that covers several vaginal corrective procedures. These procedures can correct problems that occur after giving birth or during menopause.

Traditionally, these conditions have been treated with invasive surgeries and with supplements like vaginal estrogen or hyaluronic acid. However, modern treatment options like laser vaginal rejuvenation are growing in popularity and can help women avoid the pitfalls of surgery.

In fact, study centers around the world are using monopolar radiofrequency for vaginal laxity in premenopausal women. Studies show that treatment is safe and helps improve vaginal laxity and other sexual dysfunctions. Additionally, anecdotal evidence shows that patients have less urine leakage when coughing, laughing, sneezing, and exercising.

If you're unsatisfied with the appearance of your vagina or have noticed increased looseness or diminished lubrication, don't lose hope. Vaginal rejuvenation, HRT for women in Apopka, FL, or a combo of the two may be right for you.

Dryness

Vaginal Dryness

The primary cause of vaginal atrophy or vaginal dryness is the reduction of estrogen. Typically, women lose estrogen during and after menopause. Childbirth and hysterectomy can also be causes that reduce estrogen production. To help women restore natural levels of estrogen, thereby treating vaginal dryness, NV Medical Orlando offers three types of therapies:

Vaginal Therapy

Estrogen cream is applied intravaginally at night to improve vaginal blood flow, lubrication, and elasticity. Alternatively, women can choose s Hyaluronic Acid Vaginal Suppository, which provides hormone-free relief from vaginal dryness. This treatment is best for women who cannot undergo hormone replacement therapy.

Minimally Invasive Vaginal Therapy

Viveve Radiofrequency Technology, which uses cryogen-cooled radio frequencies to heat and cool vaginal tissue, is designed to improve:

  • Blood Flow
  • Vaginal Lubrication
  • Vaginal Laxity
  • Stress Urinary Incontinence

This popular treatment is performed discreetly, is painless, and usually takes less than an hour to complete.

Systemic Therapy

HRT for women in Apopka, FL, can be administered as oral pills, creams, pellets, or as injections under the skin. The specific type of hormones, their delivery mechanisms, and dosage levels are determined on a patient-by-patient basis after a detailed history, physical exam, and laboratory study.

Low Libido in Women

If you're a woman who finds herself lacking sexual desire or the act of sexual intercourse, you're not alone. In fact, research from 1999 shows that as much as 22% of women in the U.S. report low sex drive. Though this issue is often underreported, its causes and the available treatments are well-known.

Causes of low libido in women include:

Surgery

Hysterectomies often result in a drastic drop of testosterone and estrogen in a woman's body. This drop in hormones has been linked to low libido.

Medications

Some medicines that are used to treat depression and anxiety, specifically SSRIs that inhibit serotonin, have been demonstrated to reduce sexual arousal.

Hormones

Estrogen affects blood flow to vaginal and genital tissues. Reducing estrogen, which can occur during and after menopause, childbirth or surgical menopause created secondary to a hysterectomy can result in reduced vaginal blood flow and lubrication.

Overall Health

Studies on post-menopausal women have demonstrated that patients in poor health report lower sexual desire. In fact, symptoms like chronic pain, fatigue, and mood swings caused by chronic illnesses all contribute to decreased female libido.

Though low libido and the effects of unbalanced hormones can be concerning, treatment is available at NV Medical Orlando. First, a thorough physical exam and health history will be conducted to help our experts develop an optimal treatment plan for you. During your evaluation, you may be asked to complete a questionnaire that helps us assess your symptoms further. That way, we can craft an appropriate treatment regimen to address your symptoms and concerns.

The type of treatment recommended depends on your identified needs and may include hormone replacement therapy for women, vaginal treatments, oral medications, sexual therapies, or additional treatment regimens.

APOPKA, Fla. - Former Apopka High School and University of Georgia star defensive lineman Jalen Carter is projected to be a top-ten pick in next week's NFL Draft.

"It feels good," said Carter. "I be having a lot of friends hit me up talking about 'I remember we used to just play Basketball in tenth grade.' and I'm like yeah it's crazy. And now they're like ‘You’re in the draft, this is a dream come true. We feel like we're in Madden and you make your own player or something.' but it's been a crazy journey."

"It's exciting. It's been an emotional rollercoaster for my entire family," said Carter's mother Tonique Brown. "Just to know that he's able to go to the NFL, which has been always his dream, we're just extremely proud of him."

Carter has met with a handful of teams in their cities and also met with some teams at his home in Apopka. These meetings make his longtime goal feel so close.

"I never knew I would get here, you know I always had a dream," said Carter. "And you know I always thought about it, but you know I never thought I'd really get here."

"My earliest memory is him not wanting to play football," said Brown. "He did not want to play football, he was always the biggest out of the bunch. And he was like 'Mom, I'm bigger than everybody else.' and I'm like it's ok Jalen."

Carter says he and his agent Drew Rosenhaus are hearing a lot of chatter from teams about when he could be picked. They say anywhere from top 3 to top 5 to top 10. But Carter doesn't really care when his name gets called.

"No, I just want to be picked," said Carter. "At the end of the day, I still have to put in the hard work, get to that second contract, third contract, and try to stay in the league as long as I can."

But first thing's first, Carter will see where he's headed in the draft next Thursday night when he hears his name called.

"I've thought about that," said Carter. "And I don't really know what to do. Like when I walk out, I don't know if I need to walk straight or dance or something. But I'm still thinking about that."

"Today as I sat and did some office work, I got emotional," said Brown. "And so hopefully the emotional part is over."

"I know my brother, he's probably gonna shed a tear," said Carter. "Mom might. And my auntie, you know they've been with me my whole life. They've seen what I had to go through. They've seen the grind. And it's just like they're getting drafted too."

Apopka mayor refuses to step down after launch of recall petition

APOPKA, Fla. - Apopka...

APOPKA, Fla. - Apopka Mayor Bryan Nelson is reacting to a petition to recall him from office. After five years as mayor, he said he is not bending.

"It hurts to you to know that there are people out there that think you’ve done such a poor job that you deserve to be recalled," Mayor Nelson told FOX 35 News.

Apopka resident Dennis New said there are various reasons why he wants Mayor Nelson out, and that’s why he’s been busy collecting signatures. "Mismanagement with the City of Apopka," he said, adding that there needs to be more planned development in Apopka.

New also accuses the mayor of firing employees who disagree with him and support his political opponents. He even likened Nelson to a "dictator."

"Obviously, [I] take it seriously, but a lot of the issues they bring up have no bearing and some of them are out-and-out lies," the mayor responded. "That’s beneath anybody to say I want to be a dictator. It takes three votes for anything to pass to city council."

"The Charter plainly states, the Council has the ability through both the Attorney and City Clerk to terminate them," New explained.

New said a prime example is the mayor keeping the fire chief on, even though firefighters had a vote of no confidence in him. "The fact that the mayor wants to keep him on, shows his blatant ignorance to the fact that the man is unable to be a fire chief."

But Nelson argues, "The fire department is in a much better place than we were a year ago. I think the Chief will be the first to admit we’ve got some things we need to still accomplish."

That includes developing standard operating procedures in all departments. When Nelson started five years ago, he said there were only $8 million in reserves, and now there are $30 million. "We have managed the taxpayer's dollar appropriately. Dennis News got an ax to grind."

"My ultimate goal is to have leadership in the city that is honest, has integrity, and is transparent," New told us.

According to New, he needs to collect around 1,800 signatures as the first step and then around 5,000 later on to get a special election.

POLK COUNTY, Fla. – Six men — including an Apopka daycare employee — were arrested in a child predator sting out of Polk County, according to that county’s sheriff’s office.

In a release on Tuesday, deputies said the week-long undercover operation involved detectives posing as either children or parents on social media to “investigate those who prey upon and travel to meet children for unlawful sexual activity.”

At separate times throughout the investigation, all six men showed up to the undercover location in Polk County “to sexually batter children,” the release states.

Those arrested in the sting are as follows:

Jairo Muniz, 40 — Kissimmee

Deputies said that Muniz had been using social media to contact an undercover detective who posed as a 13-year-old girl.

During those conversations, Muniz — who is married with four daughters — discussed how he wanted to have sex with the supposed girl, buying condoms on his way to the undercover locations, the release shows.

He faces charges of traveling to meet a minor for sex, attempted lewd battery, transmission of harmful material to a minor, and using a two-way device to commit a felony. Muniz was released from jail on Sept. 24 after posting bond.

Timothy Wellman, 36 — Ohio

Wellman spoke online with a detective who posed as a 14-year-old girl, telling her she was “cute” and describing how he wanted to have sex with her, deputies said.

According to investigators, Wellman was divorced, and his two young children lived with his ex-wife. Wellman told detectives that he was telling his children goodnight while driving to the undercover location.

Wellman faces charges of traveling to meet a minor for sex, attempted lewd battery and using a two-way device to commit a felony.

Feras Klisli, 49 — Davenport

Klisli had discussed his desire to have sex with an undercover detective online who had posed as a 14-year-old girl, deputies said.

Detectives explained that Klisli was married with two adult children, and he worked as an Uber driver.

He faces charges of traveling to meet a minor for sex, attempted lewd battery and using a two-way device to commit a felony. Klisli was released from jail on Sept. 24 after posting bond.

Douglas Da Silva, 46 — Windermere

According to detectives, Da Silva used social media to contact an undercover agent who posed as an adult with “access to a 15-year-old female child.”

Da Silva asked whether the girl was a virgin, agreeing to pay $250 to have sex with her, deputies said.

Deputies added that Da Silva was married, and he worked as an Uber Eats driver while owning a house-cleaning business with his wife. Da Silva had only been in the country for four years and was still awaiting confirmation of his green card at the time of his arrest, the release shows.

He faces charges of traveling to meet a minor for sex, attempted lewd battery, using a two-way device to commit a felony and human trafficking.

Trevor Walker, 33 — Orlando

Similarly to Da Silva, Walker used social media to contact an undercover agent who posed as an adult with “access to a 15-year-old female child,” according to detectives.

The sheriff’s office announced that Walker had agreed to pay $400 to have sex with the child, mentioning the idea of it being a “sting” with “Grady Judd” during his conversations. Walker also told detectives that he worked at Publix distribution, the release says.

Walker faces charges of traveling to meet a minor for sex, attempted lewd battery, using a two-way device to commit a felony and human trafficking.

Douglas Cooley, 26 — Apopka

Cooley contacted an undercover agent who posed as an adult with “access to a 15-year-old female child,” detectives said.

According to the sheriff’s office, Cooley agreed to pay $100 to have sex with the child. Deputies added that Cooley worked at an after-school daycare in Apopka.

Cooley faces charges of traveling to meet a minor for sex, attempted lewd battery, using a two-way device to commit a felony and human trafficking.

POLK COUNTY, Fla. — Six Central Florida men are now facing charges after they were caught by Polk County Sheriff Deputies trying to have sex with minors.

Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd says they were arrested as part of a seven-day undercover operation.

During the operation, deputies posed as children or their guardians to investigate potential predators.

Video: 6 arrested in sexual predator sting, including Apopka after-school care employee Six Central Florida men are now facing charges after they were caught by Polk County Sheriff Deputies trying to have sex with minors. (WFTV)

“We will continue these operations. We’re going to protect the children not of only Polk County and of Florida, but around the country and around the world,” said Judd.

Three of the six suspects planned to pay an adult hundreds of dollars to have sex with minors– those three were charged with human trafficking, a life felony.

Together, the six men are facing 22 felony charges.

The suspects are:

- 40-year-old Jairo Muniz of Kissimmee, Fla.

- 36-year-old Timothy Wellman of Ohio (recently moved to Polk)

- 49-year-old Feras Klisli of Davenport, Fla.

- 46-year-old Douglas Da Silva of Windermere, Fla.

-33-year-old Trevor Walker of Orlando, Fla.

-26-year-old Douglas Cooley of Apopka, Fla.

One of the six men arrested, Douglas Cooley, was an after-school care employee who worked with students at Clay Springs Elementary in Apopka.

Cooley was not employed by Orange County Schools but he worked for Discover After School.

The aftercare company didn’t confirm how long Cooley was employed through them but did send us a statement addressing the arrest.

A spokesperson said that they have been cooperating with investigators and take this seriously.

In a statement, a spokesperson said, “Upon learning of Mr. Cooley’s arrest, we immediately terminated his employment and have been fully cooperating with law enforcement authorities.”

The statement also said Discover After School has a strict and comprehensive background screening process in place for all potential employees before they are hired.

According to that statement, the company’s primary concern is determining whether there were inappropriate interactions between Cooley and students in their care.

“Our commitment to the safety and security of our students is unwavering, and we continuously strive to maintain the highest standards of professionalism and ethics within our organization,” the statement reads in part.

According to an Orange County School District spokesperson, parents at Clay Springs Elementary were notified about Douglas Cooley’s arrest.

Discover After School Parent Martha Martinez told us she sends two children to the program at Clay Springs Elementary.

“It’s crazy, it’s scary,” said Martinez, “I received a call that someone got arrested, but other than that, I am just now knowing the details.”

Some parents we spoke to Tuesday evening still had questions about the details but told us they were disgusted by the news.
