Discover Effortless Aging with Hormone Therapy for Women

There's real substance to the notion that every woman is different. No two person's attitudes, bodies, or goals in life are ever exactly the same. But if there's one thing that every person shares, it's that our bodies change as we get older. That's especially true for females over the age of 50. One day you wake up, roll out of bed, and attack the day with vigor and positivity.

The next day, it seems like your emotions are out of control. Despite dieting and healthy life choices, your weight won't go down. It seems like you're having to deal with uncomfortable hot flashes every other hour of the day. Life can be hard after 50, especially when it seems like your body is plotting against you.

Service Areas

But the truth is, these changes are a completely normal part of the aging process for women. As you might be aware, this change is called menopause, and according to the NIH, more than one million women go through it every year. This change in life marks the end of your period. During this time, your hormones begin to deplete, causing a range of symptoms that can be difficult to deal with without professional help. Some of the most common symptoms of menopause include:

  • Hot Flashes
  • Vaginal Dryness
  • Low Libido or Sexual Desire
  • Mood Swings
  • Lack of Focus
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Chronic Tiredness
  • Increased Body Weight

Trying to juggle and cope with the symptoms of hormone deficiency can be rough for women and their partners because many of them are linked to nutrition, stress, and lack of exercise.

Hormone replacement therapy for women in Casselberry, FL, can help correct the imbalances in your body that are brought on by menopause. How Does Hormone Replacement Therapy for Women Work?

At NV Medical Orlando, our HRT treatments for women include the use of pellets, which are about the size of a tic-tac and contain hormones like estrogen and testosterone. These pellets are implanted subcutaneously to supply your body with the hormones it needs. Each pellet contains a tiny number of bioidentical hormones that are released steadily into your bloodstream for up to five months.

Unlike other sexual health centers, every HRT treatment provided by our women's sexual health clinic is tailored to our patients. While natural hormone replacement therapy is effective for many women, every patient is different. That's why it's important that you speak with a board-certified doctor, like Gina Kirkpatrick, before starting any HRT treatment to make sure it's right for you.

Benefits of Hormone Replacement Therapy for Women in Casselberry, FL

Most women who consider natural hormone therapy are curious about its benefits and the results of long-term clinical investigations. Who wouldn't be? When it comes to the symptoms of menopause, natural estrogen therapy can be incredibly effective for conditions like lack of sleep, weight gain, excessive sweating, mood swings, and more.

In addition to promoting overall health, HRT for women can help reverse sexual symptoms of menopause, like vaginal dryness and general discomfort during intercourse.

When used as part of a comprehensive preventive healthcare plan, HRT can be an invaluable tool for women. That's because hormone therapies like estrogen treatment have been shown in clinical investigations to reduce the risk of serious concerns like osteoporosis and bone loss.

But that's just the start. Clinical studies report a wide range of HRT benefits, including:

  • Improved Mood
  • Better Memory
  • Improved Concentration
  • Longer and Healthier Sleep
  • Fewer Hot Flashes

Your HRT Timeline

As we mentioned earlier, no two women will have the same hormone levels or HRT therapy needs. As such, every woman's timeline for menopause relief will be different. Generally, however, a standard HRT timeline may look like this:

week 1

Around week one, many women notice that they experience fewer hot flashes than normal. Some women notice these improvements only a few days after their first treatment.

week 2

After about two to three weeks of HRT for women in Casselberry, FL, many women notice that they have less irritability, anxiety, and fewer mood swings. During this phase, hot flashes should continue diminishing, and sleep may improve. Other benefits of HRT, like increased libido and more energy, are also expected during this phase.

week 3

Starting around weeks three to four, many HRT patients will notice drastic improvements in menopausal symptoms.

week 4

Around weeks five and six, it's common for women to notice physical differences like healthier skin, less hair loss, and even weight loss. With time, these improvements become even more pronounced.

Additional Services for Optimal Female Health

At NV Medical Orlando, we don't only treat our patients for sexual health and wellness. Because Dr. Gina Kirkpatrick is a fellowship-trained urologist, our clinic has the capacity to treat all matters related to sexual health and wellness, including certain urologic conditions.

Rejuvenation

Vaginal Rejuvenation

Have you started to notice that things “down under” are different than they were years ago? Are you experiencing disconcerting symptoms such as:

  • Burning
  • Irritation After Sex
  • Dryness
  • Urinary Incontinence
  • Unfulfilling Intercourse
  • Vaginal Laxity (Lack of Tightness)
  • Diminished Lubrication During Intercourse

If you've noticed any of the above symptoms, you may be dealing with vaginal or pelvic floor laxity. For women dealing with these issues, vaginal rejuvenation often answers their problems. Vaginal rejuvenation is an umbrella term that covers several vaginal corrective procedures. These procedures can correct problems that occur after giving birth or during menopause.

Traditionally, these conditions have been treated with invasive surgeries and with supplements like vaginal estrogen or hyaluronic acid. However, modern treatment options like laser vaginal rejuvenation are growing in popularity and can help women avoid the pitfalls of surgery.

In fact, study centers around the world are using monopolar radiofrequency for vaginal laxity in premenopausal women. Studies show that treatment is safe and helps improve vaginal laxity and other sexual dysfunctions. Additionally, anecdotal evidence shows that patients have less urine leakage when coughing, laughing, sneezing, and exercising.

If you're unsatisfied with the appearance of your vagina or have noticed increased looseness or diminished lubrication, don't lose hope. Vaginal rejuvenation, HRT for women in Casselberry, FL, or a combo of the two may be right for you.

Dryness

Vaginal Dryness

The primary cause of vaginal atrophy or vaginal dryness is the reduction of estrogen. Typically, women lose estrogen during and after menopause. Childbirth and hysterectomy can also be causes that reduce estrogen production. To help women restore natural levels of estrogen, thereby treating vaginal dryness, NV Medical Orlando offers three types of therapies:

Vaginal Therapy

Estrogen cream is applied intravaginally at night to improve vaginal blood flow, lubrication, and elasticity. Alternatively, women can choose s Hyaluronic Acid Vaginal Suppository, which provides hormone-free relief from vaginal dryness. This treatment is best for women who cannot undergo hormone replacement therapy.

Minimally Invasive Vaginal Therapy

Viveve Radiofrequency Technology, which uses cryogen-cooled radio frequencies to heat and cool vaginal tissue, is designed to improve:

  • Blood Flow
  • Vaginal Lubrication
  • Vaginal Laxity
  • Stress Urinary Incontinence

This popular treatment is performed discreetly, is painless, and usually takes less than an hour to complete.

Systemic Therapy

HRT for women in Casselberry, FL, can be administered as oral pills, creams, pellets, or as injections under the skin. The specific type of hormones, their delivery mechanisms, and dosage levels are determined on a patient-by-patient basis after a detailed history, physical exam, and laboratory study.

Low Libido in Women

If you're a woman who finds herself lacking sexual desire or the act of sexual intercourse, you're not alone. In fact, research from 1999 shows that as much as 22% of women in the U.S. report low sex drive. Though this issue is often underreported, its causes and the available treatments are well-known.

Causes of low libido in women include:

Surgery

Hysterectomies often result in a drastic drop of testosterone and estrogen in a woman's body. This drop in hormones has been linked to low libido.

Medications

Some medicines that are used to treat depression and anxiety, specifically SSRIs that inhibit serotonin, have been demonstrated to reduce sexual arousal.

Hormones

Estrogen affects blood flow to vaginal and genital tissues. Reducing estrogen, which can occur during and after menopause, childbirth or surgical menopause created secondary to a hysterectomy can result in reduced vaginal blood flow and lubrication.

Overall Health

Studies on post-menopausal women have demonstrated that patients in poor health report lower sexual desire. In fact, symptoms like chronic pain, fatigue, and mood swings caused by chronic illnesses all contribute to decreased female libido.

Though low libido and the effects of unbalanced hormones can be concerning, treatment is available at NV Medical Orlando. First, a thorough physical exam and health history will be conducted to help our experts develop an optimal treatment plan for you. During your evaluation, you may be asked to complete a questionnaire that helps us assess your symptoms further. That way, we can craft an appropriate treatment regimen to address your symptoms and concerns.

The type of treatment recommended depends on your identified needs and may include hormone replacement therapy for women, vaginal treatments, oral medications, sexual therapies, or additional treatment regimens.

CASSELBERRY, Fla. — Passion sometimes propels us to do things outside of our job requirements. And sometimes, when others get on board, it creates a ripple effect.

What You Need To Know

So is the case in the city of Casselberry, as work on a neglected piece of land-turned butterfly garden spawned other garden projects elsewhere.

“No, no one’s going to have the love we have for it, the heart. It’s our passion; It’s what we do,” said Damien Rockwood, who works as a Lake Management Tech II and city arborist.

Yet, one look at Rockwood and one might not guess that the big, bearded man has a penchant for plants — Rockwood’s almost encyclopedic knowledge of flora and fauna and what is native and not, is impressive.

“I’m a Virgo, we’re all about earth,” he said with a laugh. “A lot of people, it just shocks them. People realize, if he can do it, anybody can, right? I’m not the average person, I suppose. You gotta have the love and the desire.”

So, when Rockwood stumbled upon the overgrown garden near Casselberry Elementary School, in which bricks are laid out in the shape of a butterfly, he imagined something different for the space: a bona fide butterfly garden, rife with native plants like milkweed, which attracts pollinators.

First, Rockwood had to float the idea to his boss, Nick Cooper, as the team oversees not butterfly gardens, but lakes and waterways.

“I was fairly new to the city at the time. Didn’t even know we had a butterfly park,” said Cooper, a natural resources officer. “I thought it was a no-brainer to say yes to it. It’s a cool little miniature ecosystem in itself.”

Once they got the green light from city commissioners, the team got to work. And once complete, they snagged a distinction for the Seminole County city by Monarch City USA.

The honor recognizes the team’s efforts to not only bolster the vanishing monarch butterfly population, but spread knowledge to residents by distributing milkweed at Earth fest and encouraging neighbor gardens.

And now, like a hardy plant, the idea has taken root elsewhere, as the team eyes two more garden re-dos in other parts of the city, including at Secret Lake Park.

“This one’s going to be interesting. We have a wet area that, as it comes out, we’re going to have to adjust the plants accordingly,” said Rockwood. “We’re crazy like that, I don’t know. Why stop? It’s so beneficial.”

Rockwood, who said that his team is always at conferences and forever learning about conservation, understands that knowledge is most beneficial then passed on. It’s why he focuses on sharing helpful information to not only nature-minded neighbors, but his two sons, as a single dad.

“I have two teenage boys. If I don’t teach them, who will?” he said. “When we’re out at parks, kayaking yesterday, we’re pulling stuff that shouldn’t be here. Being aware of what the right things to do is. Conservation and all of this, it’s who I am.”

ORLANDO, FL - Blaze Capital Partners announced the acquisition of Integra Lakes, a 203-unit value-add apartment community in Casselberry, Florida, located fifteen minutes northeast of downtown Orlando. Following the acquisition, Blaze plans to invest additional capital as part of its strategic renovation plan aimed at improving the community's interior units and common areas.

"In the midst of a challenging transaction environment, Blaze has managed to stay active and find attractive opportunities that align with our long-term goals of making calculated housing bets that we believe offer superior risk-adjusted returns," said Chris Riley, co-founder and managing partner of Blaze. "The acquisition of Integra Lakes is a prime example of our team being dynamic and adapting to this difficult capital markets environment."

Integra Lakes consists of four, 3- and 4-story buildings surrounding a series of ponds and walking trails. The community features studio, one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom apartments ranging from 532 square feet to 1,298 square feet. The 2017-built community features various amenities for residents such as a saltwater swimming pool, outdoor cabana area with a fire pit, poolside gas grilling stations and TVs. The units themselves include stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, full sized washers and dryers, and vinyl plank flooring in select areas.

Casselberry is a high-growth suburb of Orlando attracting both young professionals and growing families due to its proximity to major employment hubs, access to strong schools, and its relative affordability. Integra Lakes is located just off Highway 17 providing transportation ease to various major employers such as Advent Health and Orlando International Airport in addition to the office markets in Maitland, Winter Park, and downtown Orlando. The community is located within the sought-after Seminole County School District and offers residents a variety of high-end restaurants, entertainment, outdoor activities, and daily amenities.

"We continue to see outsized rental demand for quality apartment communities throughout the Orlando market, and Casselberry has emerged as a thriving submarket having drafted off of the growth in Maitland and other adjacent pockets," said Eddy O'Brien, co-founder and managing partner of Blaze. "We look forward to executing on our improvement plan and delivering an exceptional housing experience to our residents."

Blaze has continued to opportunistically grow its Sunbelt rental housing portfolio throughout 2023 with a selective, long-term approach amidst the backdrop of a challenging capital market landscape. This transaction marks Blaze's second acquisition in Orlando this year having recently closed on The Pointe at Siena Ridge, an active adult community in the Davenport submarket of Metro Orlando. Blaze will continue to selectively deploy capital throughout the balance of the year across its various rental housing segments.

A little more than a month after opening a store in Davenport, BJ’s Wholesale Club is a step closer to moving into a Casselberry shopping center.

The Casselberry City Commission on March 27 approved a rezoning request that nudges ahead plans by the Massachusetts-based big-box chain to establish a presence at the corner of U.S. Highway 17-92 and S.R. 436.

The BJ’s development team is looking to build a store totaling 101,113 square feet within what’s known as the Casselberry Exchange shopping center.

The shopping center at one time was anchored by Staples and Bed, Bath and Beyond. But those stores closed years ago and the strip mall has sat mostly vacant ever since. Under plans submitted to the city, the section of the strip mall that once held the big box stores will be demolished to make room for the new BJ’s Wholesale Club.

A small part of the 98,862-square-foot retail center will be left intact, according to a marketing brochure by Foundry Commercial that shows how the site will look once the BJ’s opens. Six small tenants — including a liquor store, nail salon, and beauty supply shop — will remain in place following the redevelopment of the site.

The commercial outparcels on the 15-acre property —including a Starbucks, Little Caeser’s and Einstein Bagels — will also be unaffected by the arrival of BJ’s, according to the Foundry brochure.

The Casselberry Exchange brochure by Foundry, which lists Jill Gull as its leasing agent, markets more than 6,000 square feet of available space within the shopping center that will soon be anchored by BJ’s.

The brochure says the BJ’s store at the site is expected to open by the first quarter of 2024.

Gull with Foundry Commercial could not be immediately reached for comment. BJ’s representatives also didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment.

In an early March news release, BJ’s Wholesale announced plans to expand with new locations across the southeast, including its first in Tennessee and Alabama.

The release mentioned the new store in Polk County’s Davenport, which recently opened at Posner Park at U.S. 27 and I-4.

“Our club openings in Davenport and McDonough (Georgia) are part of our continued growth within the Orlando and Atlanta markets, respectively,” Bill Werner, the executive vice president of strategy and Development with BJ’s Wholesale Club said in the news release “We can’t wait to welcome our newest BJ’s members this year and help provide these local communities with unbeatable value and incredible savings.”

The news release, which did not mention plans for a Casselberry location, said that each BJ’s Wholesale store is expected to create approximately 150 jobs for its respective communities.

Headquartered in Marlborough, Massachusetts, BJ’s Wholesale Club Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: BJ) is a leading operator of membership warehouse clubs in the Eastern United States focused on delivering significant value to its members. The company provides a curated assortment of grocery, general merchandise, gasoline and ancillary services to offer a differentiated shopping experience, according to its website.

Since pioneering the warehouse club model in New England in 1984, the company currently operates 237 clubs and 165 BJ’s Gas locations in 18 states.

The Casselberry location would be the company’s sixth store in the Greater Orlando area.

In addition to bringing new stores to Orlando, the company is also adding warehouse space to this market. In April of 2022, the company paid $43.7 million for a distribution building on 22.6 acres just west of the Orlando International Airport. The 21,000-square-foot cold-storage warehouse was previously owned by Burris Logistics.

And BJ’s isn’t the only wholesale retailer expanding in the Orlando area. In November, Washington-based Costco paid $7.35 million for a 19.7-acre parcel in Clermont for a future store. The 151,000-square-foot Costco is planned for the Plaza Collina mixed-use development site along State Road 50, just west of the Orange-Lake county line.

CASSELBERRY, Fla. – Residents of a Casselberry mobile home community say they are glad Hurricane Idalia spared them, but they claim erosion from other storms has caused their homes to sink.

“As you can see, the whole house – see how it’s sinking down,” Donna DeMarco said.

DeMarco lives in the Summerloch Green mobile home community in Casselberry.

She told News 6 water from Lake Kathryn, which is located right behind the mobile home she purchased, is eating away at the leased land that it sits on.

She said she has paid to have her home leveled twice.

[EXCLUSIVE: Become a News 6 Insider (it’s FREE) | PINIT! Share your photos]

“Look at this. Look at the brick wall right here,” she said pointing to a crooked brick planter. “That’s where I had it leveled.”

She said the earth is also being eroded away from a dock behind her home.

“It’s not going to hold it after a while,” she said. “That’s my fear.”

Cindy Connors lives a couple doors down from DeMarco, and she said she has the same problem.

In fact, she said she cannot get approved for flood insurance because the lake is now too close to her home.

“I get terrified with the rain,” she said. “I’m constantly checking the radar, checking everything to see, you know? (I’m fearful) that I’m going to lose what little I have left.”

Connors said the property management company, Cobblestone Communities, promised to build a sea wall to protect her property.

Five years later, she is still waiting for it to be built.

News 6 investigated and found out Cobblestone has applied to the City of Casselberry three times to build it.

In 2020, the city denied their plans.

They said they wanted to know how a seal wall would be built in what has been declared a flood zone by the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

Connors next-door neighbors have a sea wall.

They city told News 6 they never heard back from Cobblestone, and the application expired.

In 2022, city records show Cobblestone applied again.

The city told News 6 very little was changed in the application, and it was denied again.

Again, the application expired.

Now, in July, Cobblestone submitted a third application.

A spokeswoman for the city said the application is “currently under review which includes the justification methodology in the flood study, which is standard practice. This review process may be lengthy.”

News 6 contacted Cobblestone CEO Erik Hagen, CFO Tome Tomaj and COO Jason Hagan to see what they have to say to residents as their third application is being considered.

Vice President of Operations Kim Lake responded:

“We are deeply committed to the successful completion of this project. We have been diligently working with multiple jurisdictional entities including the city of Casselberry, St. John’s and FEMA, as well as multiple consultants, vendors, engineers, and project management firms to garner a final approval to move forward with this seawall project. Work actually began at the end of July of the Island portion and is expected to be completed shortly.”

Cobblestone Vice President of Operations Kim Lake

Connors said she fears what another big storm could do.

“It’s all I’ve got. It’s all I have. This is my life, this is it,” she said. “I have to protect it, but nobody wants to do anything.”
