Understanding the Importance of Testosterone in Your Body

head-bottom

When people hear the word "testosterone," they often associate it with overly aggressive or macho men. However, testosterone really has little impact on a man's masculinity, at least from a social standpoint. Rather, testosterone plays a much more important role in male development, from puberty to the end of life.

As the primary androgen, testosterone helps men develop typical male characteristics and is vital for the production of sperm. The pituitary gland and hypothalamus in the body control testosterone, and it helps men develop and maintain various functions such as:

What Causes Low Testosterone?

head-bottom

As men age, they may experience lower levels of testosterone, also known as low T. This natural decline in testosterone can also be caused by drug abuse, obesity, prescribed medications, or testicle injuries. When testosterone levels decrease, it can affect the body's balance of testosterone and estrogen, leading to an increase in abdominal fat and higher levels of estrogen. This hormonal imbalance can lead to a variety of issues that, when left untreated, can affect your quality of life in several ways.

The most common low testosterone signs in males include the following:

  • Erectile Dysfunction or ED
  • Increased Amounts of Body Fat
  • Lack of Concentration
  • More Irritability
  • Low Libido
  • Low Sperm Count
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Decrease in Muscle Mass
  • Lack of Motivation

If one or more of those symptoms are happening in your life right now, it could be because your body has a lack of testosterone. The only way to find out for certain is to have your testosterone levels tested at a qualified Sexual Wellness and Holistic Clinic, such as NV Medical Minneola. If testing shows that you have low T, the next step in your recovery could be TRT in Minneola, FL.

The Risks of Living Life with Low Testosterone

head-bottom

Some men may think to themselves, "I don't have the time or patience to undergo TRT in Minneola, FL." While TRT treatments are quick, easy, and require no recovery time, we at NV Medical Minneola understand that this type of therapy is not for everyone. Some men choose to rough it through this stage in their life, despite available solutions. While that is certainly an option, if you're considering this route, you should know that more is at risk than low libido and lack of motivation.

As frustrating as those symptoms can be, living with low testosterone often results in more serious issues that risk the health of your vital organs. If you're on the fence about bringing your testosterone levels back within normal range, keep these health risks in mind.

Diabetes

Diabetes

For those who have been diagnosed with pre-diabetes or diabetes, it's possible that low testosterone levels could be a factor. Research has shown that men with low testosterone are more likely to develop diabetes as they age, and those with diabetes are also more likely to have low testosterone. Additionally, men with low T may struggle with insulin resistance. While testosterone replacement therapy won't cure diabetes, studies have suggested that men with healthy testosterone levels tend to have better blood sugar levels and a lower risk of obesity.

Heart Disease

Heart Disease

If a doctor has informed you that you have high blood pressure, you may be curious about its root cause. Could it be due to aging? Is it hereditary? Or is there another factor at play? Research has shown that men who have low levels of testosterone are more likely to develop cardiovascular diseases. When testosterone levels are low, red blood cell production is hindered, which can speed up the accumulation of plaque in your arteries. Over time, this plaque buildup can result in severe issues such as heart attacks and strokes.

Issues with Weight and Obesity

Issues with Weight and Obesity

Many men face the challenge of excess body fat as they age, which can be discouraging when you're trying to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Despite eating well and exercising regularly, stubborn fat around the waistline can be difficult to get rid of. However, it's important to note that low testosterone levels may be the underlying cause. Studies have shown a correlation between low T and obesity, as testosterone helps regulate metabolism by controlling insulin, glucose, and fat. The good news is that undergoing TRT in combination with proper diet and exercise can lead to weight loss and improved blood glucose and low-density cholesterol levels.

Anemia

Anemia

Anemia occurs when the body lacks or has dysfunctional red blood cells, resulting in reduced oxygen supply to organs. Men with low testosterone levels are at a higher risk of anemia since testosterone plays a role in healthy red blood cell production. A study conducted in 2009 revealed that older men with low T have five times more chances of being anemic compared to men with normal testosterone levels. Although testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) is not a cure for anemia, it can help in the production of more red blood cells, which may prevent anemia.

TRT in Minneola, FL: A Reliable Solution to Low Testosterone

head-bottom

To fully appreciate the advantages of testosterone replacement therapy from NV Medical Minneola, it's crucial to grasp its mechanism. Testosterone was first synthesized in a laboratory in 1935 and has been prescribed to counteract low testosterone levels in clinical settings ever since. Over the last few decades, it has emerged as one of the most commonly prescribed medications in the US.

TRT works by restoring a healthy testosterone level in men who suffer from low T. Essentially, TRT is similar to insulin for people who have diabetes. The body lacks sufficient production of an essential hormone, and so requires an exogenous source to replace it - testosterone in this case. Although most men begin TRT after the age of 50, more men in their 30s and 40s are having their testosterone levels tested at wellness clinics like NV Medical Minneola. If you're experiencing symptoms like ED but think you're too young for testosterone replacement therapy, it's worth having your T levels checked by a doctor.

Our TRT Process

As the name implies, TRT replaces the testosterone that your body is missing, so it can function as it should. Unlike some TRT clinics, however, our doctors and practitioners take a personalized, comprehensive approach to testosterone replacement therapy.

If you are experiencing symptoms that may indicate low testosterone levels, it is important to undergo a thorough evaluation, including a medical history and physical examination, as well as laboratory studies. After discussing the potential risks and benefits of testosterone therapy with your healthcare provider, a decision can be made about whether to proceed with treatment.

There are several methods for administering testosterone, such as a gel that is applied to the skin, injections, pellets that are placed under the skin, and a new oral pill that has recently become available. Once treatment begins, regular monitoring of your lab results is essential to ensure that the therapy is effective and to make any necessary adjustments based on additional factors. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms and are interested in exploring testosterone therapy, please reach out to NV Medical Minneola to schedule a private and confidential consultation with our Board-Certified Urologist.

MINNEOLA, Fla. – AdventHealth broke ground today on AdventHealth Minneola, an 80-bed hospital that will bring inpatient care to the growing population of south Lake County. Leaders and community members came together to mark the start of construction.

The four-story hospital will be located on Hancock Road at Florida’s Turnpike, off the Minneola interchange. The facility will be approximately 204,000 square feet and includes an emergency department; full-service imaging; five operating suites; endoscopy services; outpatient laboratory; heart catheterization labs; 40 critical care patient rooms and 40 general medical or surgical rooms. These new services will meet a significant need in south Lake County which has seen a shortage of physicians in nearly every specialty.

As part of AdventHealth's $271 million investment in the community's health care infrastructure, AdventHealth Minneola will serve as a beacon of hope and healing. A recent study by Sg2, a health care consulting agency, estimates the population of Minneola will increase by 13% in the next five years, making the provision of high-quality acute care services critical.

“We are committed to providing convenient, whole-person care close to home, wherever consumers live in Central Florida,” said Kari Vargas, CEO of AdventHealth’s Northwest Market. “With a fast-growing population and a community need for additional access to primary and specialty care, we look forward to offering the residents of South Lake a complete range of exceptional, compassionate care.”

The Agency for Healthcare Administration (ACHA) reports that over 45% of residents of this community leave the county to receive inpatient services.

"In many cases, we know that the best medical care is care that is close to home,” said Dr. Nicholas McAlister, director of emergency medicine at AdventHealth Clermont and Winter Garden. “For many residents of this community, that care hasn't been available, which leads them to leave the area if they need hospital services. This facility will allow more of those people to receive world-class care closer to home."

The Minneola campus joins AdventHealth’s growing network of inpatient and outpatient services in the South Lake and West Orange communities. The hospital will be located in a new and up-and-coming development, as well as within walking distance of shopping, entertainment, housing, and green space.

“It is an honor for me and my fellow City Council members to welcome AdventHealth to Minneola,” said Mayor Pat Kelley. “The presence of AdventHealth in our community will further accelerate the development of our economic development zone. AdventHealth Minneola hospital will not only offer residents a health care provider to proud of, but also bring good high-paying health care jobs to our community.”

Upon completion, the hospital will bring 500 jobs to the community.

The architect is ESa and the general contractor is Brasfield & Gorrie. AdventHealth Minneola is scheduled to open in late 2025.

MINNEOLA, Fla. – Officials with AdventHealth and Minneola broke ground Thursday on a hospital that will bring inpatient care to the growing population of south Lake County.

The four-story hospital will be located on Hancock Road at Florida’s Turnpike, which is off the Minneola interchange.

At 204,000 square feet, AdventHealth Minneola will have an emergency department, full-service imaging, five operating suites, endoscopy services, an outpatient lab, and heart catheterization labs.

“It’s going to be an 80-bed hospital and it’s going to be a community hospital,” CEO of AdventHealth Northwest Market Kari Vargas said. “As the population grows, we know we need to grow the health care.”

The hospital’s construction is beginning as Minneola continues to see an explosion in growth.

Mayor Pat Kelley said more than 8,000 homes are expected to be built over the next 10 years and the city has worked to put infrastructure needs in place for future residents.

“There’s been a huge demand, especially with the expansion of the turnpike,” Kelley said. “We’ve been very conscious of what’s important to the residents and we need to give them those services before we give them a place to live.”

Kelley said the project is the latest example of the city growing responsibly and comes as Minneola remains debt-free.

“We put ourselves in positive financial position where we don’t need the growth to survive. So that’s very unique compared to other cities. We can do it at our pace, not at the developers’ paces,” Kelley said.

Construction on AdventHealth Minneola is expected to be completed in late 2025.

MINNEOLA, Fla. — A new development dubbed "Minneola Ridge" has some residents concerned about industrial growth.

On Tuesday, the city council discussed a first reading of rezoning that proposed development.

What You Need To Know

The proposal by Richland Communities could see more than 1,100 homes, 238 townhomes and a 1,100-unit apartment complex built.

The development would also include 5 million square feet of a light industrial district, which could mean 120,000 square feet or less of food processing, consumer goods, vehicles, and machinery.

It would all go on North Hancock Road behind the approved City Center development.

Resident Aruna Varma says the plan doesn’t flow with current and already approved projects in the area.

“We don’t want this to be an industrial commerce park, we want it more to be family-oriented,” said Varma. “I lived in Winter Garden when it was only two lanes and no Winter Garden Village. So I know how growth can affect an area.”

Along with the growth, Varma also moved to Minneola because of its beautiful hills. With a real estate background, she knew some of the development projects already in the works.

“I do my digging where I want to know what’s coming in the area before I live in that area. I always go to these city meetings to find out what’s coming. It has a big impact on property values,” said Varma.

Tuesday night the City of Minneola discussed the developer’s rezoning request. The developer said the project is needed to support the demands of the growing area, especially when it comes to housing and jobs.

Varma has a petition to reject that rezoning proposal.

“We wanted to start a petition because it’s not only me. I feel like it’s the community in general of what they want. I want their voices to be heard,” said Varma.

While the developer is presenting this as an opportunity for residents to live, work, and play in the city of Minneola — Varma hopes the city council will table the rezoning discussion.

She wants to see how the area handles already approved developments, especially with traffic flow.

In a statement from Mayor Pat Kelley, he said he understands the development could change the landscape of Minneola.

“Although this is just first reading. The developer is requesting what I feel is substantial changes and increases in density and uses to their existing PUD,” said Mayor Kelley. “If approved, I feel the results could definitely change the look and feel of the community.”

Spectrum News 13 reached out to Richland Communities and is waiting for a response.

MINNEOLA, Fla.Crooked Can Brewery shared an exclusive sneak peek into the design of its upcoming second location in Minneola.

The brewery’s latest venture aims to cater to existing Crooked Can enthusiasts while welcoming new members into the Crooked Can family.

The first glimpse, a rendering of the front facade, has ignited anticipation for what’s to come.

[EXCLUSIVE: Become a News 6 Insider (it’s FREE) | PINIT! Share your photos]

The new facility will be nearly four times as large as the brewery’s flagship location in downtown Winter Garden, which has been a catalyst for the area’s growth and popularity. The brewery has been a fixture in the community since it poured its first craft beer in 2014. It’s also been transformational for the downtown Winter Garden corridor and what it looks like today.

“We are excited to get to get this project up and running and are working hard behind the scenes on design, moving into a new stage of design development this month. We are about to begin the permitting process with our partners at the City of Minneola and are optimistic that we can get into a position to start construction in the late summer 2024,” said Andy Sheeter, Crooked Can founder. “We are creating a truly destination brewery and a sizable production facility, to share our delicious beer with even more people sometime in 2025.″

Kevin Skorman with Skorman Development told News 6 last year that unlike the brewery’s Winter Garden location, the new location will be in a highly anticipated Hills of Minneola development.

“We are endeavoring to design a space that will allow people to come together, make special memories with their friends and families and drink some award-winning beer while they are at it. Be that in our 20,000 square foot two story taproom & food hall, or on our 1.5-acre outdoor space,” said managing partner Alan Delahunt. “Whether you are a craft beer aficionado, a family or just looking for a beer and a bite and somewhere to hang out, we have you in mind as we design this space.”

As the project unfolds, the brewery plans to share more renderings and details in the upcoming weeks, brewing up future excitement for its loyal Crooked Can family.

There's now another Del Webb 55+ community to explore in the Orlando area.

In 2023 Del Webb Minneola joined Del Webb Oasis and Del Webb Sunbridge in the new Orlando area Del Webb community lineup.

Here's the latest overview video from the developer:

Location

What's unique about Del Webb Minneola is owed to its location. You've likely never heard of Minneola, but it has some of the highest hills in Central Florida, which will give Del Webb Minneola a pretty unique feel compared to its mostly flat sister communities.

The actual site of the community features 130 feet of elevation change which creates some stunning views, especially from the 2-story clubhouse in the hills. It is believed that you'll be able to see as far as downtown Orlando which is about 25 miles away.

Another interesting thing about the location is that it is nearly equidistant from downtown Orlando and the southern stretches of the World's Largest Retirement Community, The Villages.

Residents of The Villages are anxiously awaiting the opening of the new Costco being built in Clermont, which will be the closest Costco to The Villages but about a 35-minute drive for them.

But it'll only be about a 10-minute drive for Del Webb Minneola residents! $1.50 hot dog and soda combos anyone?

Amenities

Amenities at Del Webb Minneola will be on par with what you've seen in any of the newer Del Webb communities. I mentioned the 2-story clubhouse above which will be about 17,000 square feet.

Features are said to include:

Homes at Del Webb Minneola

Del Webb is building single-family homes from their Scenic, Distinctive, and Echelon series at Del Webb Minneola.

For the most part, Del Webb builds pretty much the same floorplans in each new community across the state, so if you've checked out other Del Webb communities in Florida, you'll likely recognize most of the floorplans offered here.

It does not appear that they plan to offer any attached villas at Del Webb Minneola, but things can change.

Prices start right around $400k…$399,900 to be exact at the time of this update.
