Understanding the Importance of Testosterone in Your Body

head-bottom

When people hear the word "testosterone," they often associate it with overly aggressive or macho men. However, testosterone really has little impact on a man's masculinity, at least from a social standpoint. Rather, testosterone plays a much more important role in male development, from puberty to the end of life.

As the primary androgen, testosterone helps men develop typical male characteristics and is vital for the production of sperm. The pituitary gland and hypothalamus in the body control testosterone, and it helps men develop and maintain various functions such as:

What Causes Low Testosterone?

head-bottom

As men age, they may experience lower levels of testosterone, also known as low T. This natural decline in testosterone can also be caused by drug abuse, obesity, prescribed medications, or testicle injuries. When testosterone levels decrease, it can affect the body's balance of testosterone and estrogen, leading to an increase in abdominal fat and higher levels of estrogen. This hormonal imbalance can lead to a variety of issues that, when left untreated, can affect your quality of life in several ways.

The most common low testosterone signs in males include the following:

  • Erectile Dysfunction or ED
  • Increased Amounts of Body Fat
  • Lack of Concentration
  • More Irritability
  • Low Libido
  • Low Sperm Count
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Decrease in Muscle Mass
  • Lack of Motivation

If one or more of those symptoms are happening in your life right now, it could be because your body has a lack of testosterone. The only way to find out for certain is to have your testosterone levels tested at a qualified Sexual Wellness and Holistic Clinic, such as NV Medical Clermont. If testing shows that you have low T, the next step in your recovery could be TRT in Clermont, FL.

The Risks of Living Life with Low Testosterone

head-bottom

Some men may think to themselves, "I don't have the time or patience to undergo TRT in Clermont, FL." While TRT treatments are quick, easy, and require no recovery time, we at NV Medical Clermont understand that this type of therapy is not for everyone. Some men choose to rough it through this stage in their life, despite available solutions. While that is certainly an option, if you're considering this route, you should know that more is at risk than low libido and lack of motivation.

As frustrating as those symptoms can be, living with low testosterone often results in more serious issues that risk the health of your vital organs. If you're on the fence about bringing your testosterone levels back within normal range, keep these health risks in mind.

Diabetes

Diabetes

For those who have been diagnosed with pre-diabetes or diabetes, it's possible that low testosterone levels could be a factor. Research has shown that men with low testosterone are more likely to develop diabetes as they age, and those with diabetes are also more likely to have low testosterone. Additionally, men with low T may struggle with insulin resistance. While testosterone replacement therapy won't cure diabetes, studies have suggested that men with healthy testosterone levels tend to have better blood sugar levels and a lower risk of obesity.

Heart Disease

Heart Disease

If a doctor has informed you that you have high blood pressure, you may be curious about its root cause. Could it be due to aging? Is it hereditary? Or is there another factor at play? Research has shown that men who have low levels of testosterone are more likely to develop cardiovascular diseases. When testosterone levels are low, red blood cell production is hindered, which can speed up the accumulation of plaque in your arteries. Over time, this plaque buildup can result in severe issues such as heart attacks and strokes.

Issues with Weight and Obesity

Issues with Weight and Obesity

Many men face the challenge of excess body fat as they age, which can be discouraging when you're trying to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Despite eating well and exercising regularly, stubborn fat around the waistline can be difficult to get rid of. However, it's important to note that low testosterone levels may be the underlying cause. Studies have shown a correlation between low T and obesity, as testosterone helps regulate metabolism by controlling insulin, glucose, and fat. The good news is that undergoing TRT in combination with proper diet and exercise can lead to weight loss and improved blood glucose and low-density cholesterol levels.

Anemia

Anemia

Anemia occurs when the body lacks or has dysfunctional red blood cells, resulting in reduced oxygen supply to organs. Men with low testosterone levels are at a higher risk of anemia since testosterone plays a role in healthy red blood cell production. A study conducted in 2009 revealed that older men with low T have five times more chances of being anemic compared to men with normal testosterone levels. Although testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) is not a cure for anemia, it can help in the production of more red blood cells, which may prevent anemia.

TRT in Clermont, FL: A Reliable Solution to Low Testosterone

head-bottom

To fully appreciate the advantages of testosterone replacement therapy from NV Medical Clermont, it's crucial to grasp its mechanism. Testosterone was first synthesized in a laboratory in 1935 and has been prescribed to counteract low testosterone levels in clinical settings ever since. Over the last few decades, it has emerged as one of the most commonly prescribed medications in the US.

TRT works by restoring a healthy testosterone level in men who suffer from low T. Essentially, TRT is similar to insulin for people who have diabetes. The body lacks sufficient production of an essential hormone, and so requires an exogenous source to replace it - testosterone in this case. Although most men begin TRT after the age of 50, more men in their 30s and 40s are having their testosterone levels tested at wellness clinics like NV Medical Clermont. If you're experiencing symptoms like ED but think you're too young for testosterone replacement therapy, it's worth having your T levels checked by a doctor.

Our TRT Process

As the name implies, TRT replaces the testosterone that your body is missing, so it can function as it should. Unlike some TRT clinics, however, our doctors and practitioners take a personalized, comprehensive approach to testosterone replacement therapy.

If you are experiencing symptoms that may indicate low testosterone levels, it is important to undergo a thorough evaluation, including a medical history and physical examination, as well as laboratory studies. After discussing the potential risks and benefits of testosterone therapy with your healthcare provider, a decision can be made about whether to proceed with treatment.

There are several methods for administering testosterone, such as a gel that is applied to the skin, injections, pellets that are placed under the skin, and a new oral pill that has recently become available. Once treatment begins, regular monitoring of your lab results is essential to ensure that the therapy is effective and to make any necessary adjustments based on additional factors. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms and are interested in exploring testosterone therapy, please reach out to NV Medical Clermont to schedule a private and confidential consultation with our Board-Certified Urologist.

On the heels of multiple awards at this year’s New York BagelFest, Jeff’s Bagel Run has announced plans for another location, this one in Clermont.

The news comes as part of the company’s continued aggressive growth strategy and is likely to delight Jeff and Danielle Perera’s earliest customers.

“A Clermont store is something they’ve been asking for forever,” Jeff Perera told the Orlando Sentinel, recalling a time during the company’s earliest days when he drove four bagels to a single customer in Clermont.

“I was new. I was young. I was hungry,” he says. “Taking four bagels to Clermont cost me more than I made on the sale of the bagels, but it was about getting good bagels into the hands of people who love and appreciate them, and I think that by doing that, we started to build a foundation of customers who are now driving to our Ocoee location on weekends to get bagels. This store is going to meet their needs.”

The 1,200-square-foot space will be located at 16530 FL-50, right in the heart of the Clermont community and just west of their original location in Ocoee.

Several other locations are still in the works. Perera expects the Winter Park and Celebration stores to be the next two open.

“Both are under construction. We’re thinking last week in December, first week of January. O-Town West and Oviedo in late January.”

Jeff’s Bagel Run announces Oviedo location

The easternmost shop, with an expected opening date of November, will be the sixth in the Orlando-based brand’s growing empire.

The Clermont shop, he projects, will open its doors in about six months, but there are plenty of fun things going on as they head into the holiday season.

“We’re coming up on a holiday beverage release for our shops,” Perera said. “Our coffee profiles this winter will be salted caramel, gingerbread, peppermint, and we’re going to really highlight our banana bread cold brew because it’s just so delicious.”

A cookie butter cream cheese is in the works, too, along with another exciting drop.

“I’m testing some gingerbread bagels this week,” he teased. “I think it might be a delicious flavor for the season and certainly not one you’d find at a traditional bagel shop.”

Jeff’s Bagel Run has two stores open: Ocoee and College Park, Orlando. Perera is eager to add another to the growing family.

With numerous world-class tourist destinations located throughout Central Florida, it may be easy to forget that visitors flocked to the area prior to the emergence of the theme parks that so many associate with the region today. A number of notable attractions predated the opening of the Walt Disney World Resort in 1971, and while many of them have since closed, a handful remain in operation. One such local gem is the Presidents Hall of Fame on U.S. Highway 27 in Clermont.

In 1956, partners A.W. Thacker and Jack Toole officially opened the Florida Citrus Tower, a 226-foot-tall structure with a top floor created to give guests a view of Lake County’s orange groves. By 1964, Toole had built a new project on the property, the House of Presidents, which became a destination in its own right. Fittingly located inside a building designed to resemble the White House, the museum’s primary draw was a display of detailed wax sculptures of each of the United States presidents. The collection then consisted of 36 figures, including one representing Lyndon B. Johnson, the current commander-in-chief at the time.

The House of Presidents proved successful and remained in operation under the original concept until the 1990s, when John and Jan Zweifel purchased it. John Zweifel had been creating miniatures of historic sites since childhood; after his marriage to Jan in 1959, the couple built a business that crafted Christmas displays for major department stores in Chicago and other cities, as well as exhibits for various clients. They moved to Central Florida in the 1970s. As the new owners of the House of Presidents, the Zweifels added a massive scale model of the White House that became the museum’s new centerpiece. They also gave the attraction a new name – the Presidents Hall of Fame – to mark their expanded concept.

The Zweifels’ mammoth 60-foot, highly detailed model White House was a welcome addition that brought in a new wave of sightseers. The model itself has been displayed in all 50 states, on a tour before finding its permanent home in Florida and during occasional loans after it became part of the Clermont museum. Visitors can even view personal letters from former presidents and first ladies commenting on how much they admire the effort and care that went into the Zweifels’ creation.

Sadly, both John and Jan Zweifel passed away in 2020. Though the loss left a huge void, both in the community and at the museum itself, the business is still in the family and remains open under the direction of the couple’s children.

Today, visitors can still see the famous White House, as well as many other presidential-themed artifacts and displays, ranging from presidential china to campaign memorabilia to a nod to Mount Rushmore located just outside the main entrance. The museum also features an impressive gift shop with some truly unique items for anyone seeking a souvenir to commemorate the experience. Still situated adjacent to the iconic Citrus Tower, the House of Presidents survives as an example of a fun roadside-attraction of Florida’s yesteryear that is more than worthy of a visit.

CLERMONT, Fla. — The Florida Regional District of the Amateur Athletic Union on Monday announced plans for the 100,000-square-foot Event Center at Olympus by late 2025.

The Event Center at Olympus is expected to feature basketball, volleyball, martial arts, cheer, pickleball, climbing, futsal (indoor soccer), baseball and softball (pitching and hitting), as well as AAU offices, retail pavilions and cafés.

What You Need To Know

It is designed to include a range of traditional and emerging sports across indoor and outdoor training and competition venues.

At full build-out, the sports campus also is expected to include a 5,800 seat, multipurpose arena, an international soccer center with a 3,500-seat soccer stadium and multiple soccer pitches; a 4.5-mile trail system for triathlon and other special events; a beach volleyball pavilion; an Ice Center (twin ice pads for ice hockey and figure skating); and the largest authentic red-clay tennis center in the United States, Olympus Orlando said. It is located at the highest elevation on the Olympus property in the Wellness Way area in Clermont.

The cornerstone will be the Athlete Center and Performance Institute, which will offer sports training and conditioning, nutrition services and broadcast/media technology.

The plan is to offer a year-round schedule of amateur, collegiate and elite events, onsite hospitality and entertainment.

“Olympus is creating the most impressive environment for athletes, fans and the community, and we are thrilled to be a part of it,” AAU Florida Governor Kim Fessler said. “To think that we can now host, for example, the largest volleyball event in the world at Olympus — with on-property hotels and entertainment, and a special Performance Institute for the athletes — is just beyond exciting.”

Many Clermont youth instructors and coaches are excited for the facility to go up in their backyard.

"Right now, in Central Florida, we don’t have the venues like that at that level," said Anibal Cruz, owner of the U.S. Tae Kwon Do Institute. "We’ve competed all over the U.S., and now we’re highly competitive all over the world."

Cruz trains about 100 kids in his studio and over Zoom — many of which are highly competitive.

He said the events center will allow locals who can’t travel to tournaments to still compete in their sports. He said he hopes it will also include rental space for AAU Florida teams to practice and compete in smaller competitions.

EDGE Sports Group, athletic ecosystem specialists, will lead development and management of the events center, the Ice Center and other venues, Olympus Orlando said.

“We look forward to welcoming AAU to the Olympus community and destination, and to the Clermont-Wellness Way area,” Clermont City Manager Brian Bulthuis said. “With today’s announcement, Clermont is truly solidifying its reputation nationally as the ‘Choice of Champions'.”

Olympus' portfolio includes athletes and coaches, global sports, performance, media and event organizations.

CLERMONT, Fla. - Clermont has been home to Olympic and professional athletes for years as a place to train for world-class competition. It’s also one of the fastest-growing cities in the Orlando area.

So, a new development in the city is a perfect fit for the booming area. It’s called Olympus, which is a 250-acre development directly across Highway 27 from Lake Louisa State Park.

The development will be on the leading edge of the development movement called "Live-Work-Play," where people are able to live in the same area where they also take part in their recreational activities.

Matt Carroll with Olympus Sports and Entertainment Group says this will be the perfect combination of everything that families are asking for right now. "It's just the place that you're going to want to be for entertainment, for restaurants, for shopping, obviously, for the sports component, but really a place you want to live."

That included health and wellness facilities, hotels, a town center, retail, and office space, along with training and competition venues for world-class athletes.

"We have so many athletes that that train here and call Clermont home", Carroll says. "So, it's very easy to sort of integrate that and what we're bringing into what's already established in town."

When the development is completed, it will include over 1,000 residential units, 1,300 hotel rooms, a conference center, and over a million square feet of sports and entertainment venues and space.

Carroll adds, "We plan on bringing sports from across many different disciplines, all with the underpinning of the Olympic Athlete Center, an Olympics Performance Institute, which will be the main touchpoint for all those venues."

That will also include a hockey arena, a field house, soccer fields a running and cycling course, and the Olympus Tennis Center which will use the same red clay as they use for the French open courts.

Carroll says his family takes pride in this development because this is something they are all enthusiastic about. "We’re centered around health and wellness. We believe in that plan and we believe that what we’re bringing will benefit all the people in the community and the people that choose to call Olympus home." Construction is set for next year with the completion of many of the homes and amenities in early 2025.
