Understanding the Importance of Testosterone in Your Body

head-bottom

When people hear the word "testosterone," they often associate it with overly aggressive or macho men. However, testosterone really has little impact on a man's masculinity, at least from a social standpoint. Rather, testosterone plays a much more important role in male development, from puberty to the end of life.

As the primary androgen, testosterone helps men develop typical male characteristics and is vital for the production of sperm. The pituitary gland and hypothalamus in the body control testosterone, and it helps men develop and maintain various functions such as:

What Causes Low Testosterone?

head-bottom

As men age, they may experience lower levels of testosterone, also known as low T. This natural decline in testosterone can also be caused by drug abuse, obesity, prescribed medications, or testicle injuries. When testosterone levels decrease, it can affect the body's balance of testosterone and estrogen, leading to an increase in abdominal fat and higher levels of estrogen. This hormonal imbalance can lead to a variety of issues that, when left untreated, can affect your quality of life in several ways.

The most common low testosterone signs in males include the following:

  • Erectile Dysfunction or ED
  • Increased Amounts of Body Fat
  • Lack of Concentration
  • More Irritability
  • Low Libido
  • Low Sperm Count
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Decrease in Muscle Mass
  • Lack of Motivation

If one or more of those symptoms are happening in your life right now, it could be because your body has a lack of testosterone. The only way to find out for certain is to have your testosterone levels tested at a qualified Sexual Wellness and Holistic Clinic, such as NV Medical Altamonte Springs. If testing shows that you have low T, the next step in your recovery could be TRT in Altamonte Springs, FL.

The Risks of Living Life with Low Testosterone

head-bottom

Some men may think to themselves, "I don't have the time or patience to undergo TRT in Altamonte Springs, FL." While TRT treatments are quick, easy, and require no recovery time, we at NV Medical Altamonte Springs understand that this type of therapy is not for everyone. Some men choose to rough it through this stage in their life, despite available solutions. While that is certainly an option, if you're considering this route, you should know that more is at risk than low libido and lack of motivation.

As frustrating as those symptoms can be, living with low testosterone often results in more serious issues that risk the health of your vital organs. If you're on the fence about bringing your testosterone levels back within normal range, keep these health risks in mind.

Diabetes

Diabetes

For those who have been diagnosed with pre-diabetes or diabetes, it's possible that low testosterone levels could be a factor. Research has shown that men with low testosterone are more likely to develop diabetes as they age, and those with diabetes are also more likely to have low testosterone. Additionally, men with low T may struggle with insulin resistance. While testosterone replacement therapy won't cure diabetes, studies have suggested that men with healthy testosterone levels tend to have better blood sugar levels and a lower risk of obesity.

Heart Disease

Heart Disease

If a doctor has informed you that you have high blood pressure, you may be curious about its root cause. Could it be due to aging? Is it hereditary? Or is there another factor at play? Research has shown that men who have low levels of testosterone are more likely to develop cardiovascular diseases. When testosterone levels are low, red blood cell production is hindered, which can speed up the accumulation of plaque in your arteries. Over time, this plaque buildup can result in severe issues such as heart attacks and strokes.

Issues with Weight and Obesity

Issues with Weight and Obesity

Many men face the challenge of excess body fat as they age, which can be discouraging when you're trying to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Despite eating well and exercising regularly, stubborn fat around the waistline can be difficult to get rid of. However, it's important to note that low testosterone levels may be the underlying cause. Studies have shown a correlation between low T and obesity, as testosterone helps regulate metabolism by controlling insulin, glucose, and fat. The good news is that undergoing TRT in combination with proper diet and exercise can lead to weight loss and improved blood glucose and low-density cholesterol levels.

Anemia

Anemia

Anemia occurs when the body lacks or has dysfunctional red blood cells, resulting in reduced oxygen supply to organs. Men with low testosterone levels are at a higher risk of anemia since testosterone plays a role in healthy red blood cell production. A study conducted in 2009 revealed that older men with low T have five times more chances of being anemic compared to men with normal testosterone levels. Although testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) is not a cure for anemia, it can help in the production of more red blood cells, which may prevent anemia.

TRT in Altamonte Springs, FL: A Reliable Solution to Low Testosterone

head-bottom

To fully appreciate the advantages of testosterone replacement therapy from NV Medical Altamonte Springs, it's crucial to grasp its mechanism. Testosterone was first synthesized in a laboratory in 1935 and has been prescribed to counteract low testosterone levels in clinical settings ever since. Over the last few decades, it has emerged as one of the most commonly prescribed medications in the US.

TRT works by restoring a healthy testosterone level in men who suffer from low T. Essentially, TRT is similar to insulin for people who have diabetes. The body lacks sufficient production of an essential hormone, and so requires an exogenous source to replace it - testosterone in this case. Although most men begin TRT after the age of 50, more men in their 30s and 40s are having their testosterone levels tested at wellness clinics like NV Medical Altamonte Springs. If you're experiencing symptoms like ED but think you're too young for testosterone replacement therapy, it's worth having your T levels checked by a doctor.

Our TRT Process

As the name implies, TRT replaces the testosterone that your body is missing, so it can function as it should. Unlike some TRT clinics, however, our doctors and practitioners take a personalized, comprehensive approach to testosterone replacement therapy.

If you are experiencing symptoms that may indicate low testosterone levels, it is important to undergo a thorough evaluation, including a medical history and physical examination, as well as laboratory studies. After discussing the potential risks and benefits of testosterone therapy with your healthcare provider, a decision can be made about whether to proceed with treatment.

There are several methods for administering testosterone, such as a gel that is applied to the skin, injections, pellets that are placed under the skin, and a new oral pill that has recently become available. Once treatment begins, regular monitoring of your lab results is essential to ensure that the therapy is effective and to make any necessary adjustments based on additional factors. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms and are interested in exploring testosterone therapy, please reach out to NV Medical Altamonte Springs to schedule a private and confidential consultation with our Board-Certified Urologist.

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. - The Altamonte Springs city manager says hundreds of residents have complained about a fiber optics company called "WOW!," after he says people lost water and power service while they installed their optic lines.

"I would call it beyond sloppy," said Frank Martz. "The challenge is that they are federally funded not really well regulated, we have no real way of regulating them because those are public access easements, they have the right to be there."

The company has been installing fiber optic lines in Seminole and Orange Counties, as a part of a push from the federal government to offer better internet access across the country. Martz says he doesn’t have a problem with what they are doing, but how they are doing it.

"They’ve broken a lot of utilities they’ve left yards in disrepair, trash on yards, tools in yards," said Martz.

Martz says the city is providing the company with maps of where current utility pipes exist, but he tells us, he feels like they are being reckless.

"What they are doing is they are going so fast and so carelessly they are just drilling through whatever is in their way," said Martz.

The company has promised they will fix any damage done, but Martz says that’s not the point.

"The residents are going to be temporarily out of water Sewer lines create environmental impacts storm water lines create huge sinkholes," said Martz.

WOW! Sent us this statement:

"Being a good neighbor is WOW!’s highest priority as our crews continue to work on the ground to bring our fast, reliable, all-fiber Internet network to Central Florida. We work very closely with city officials and area utilities throughout the construction process to gain the appropriate approvals and permits, as well as identify and mark all utilities to the highest level of precision possible using public locates and ground penetrating radar.

We do not install fiber on private property. WOW! obtains permits to use public easements between the sidewalk and street and rights of way to install fiber. Notifications are provided to homeowners two weeks before construction activities, as well as again the day before, to minimize disruptions.

We take these matters very seriously and swiftly address issues when they arise. Our teams proactively meet with city leaders on a regular basis to address construction progress and any concerns, and we continue to be in touch with local authorities to resolve any current issues as quickly as possible. Furthermore, we pay for all repairs. If anything was paid by the city, we would have been invoiced by the city and would have reimbursed the expense.

We take responsibility when we are at fault for any disruptions or damage and apologize for any inconvenience. If a homeowner believes WOW! has damaged their property, they should contact WOW! at 321-233-2236 or by emailing cfl.construction@wowinc.com. WOW! will promptly repair damage for which we are responsible at no cost to the homeowner."- Artney Dennis, operations manager.

WOW! says they hang up a door sign two weeks before installation, but several people we spoke to say they never got a notice. Gilbert Vogler is one of those people. He says he went to take out his trash cans and noticed his yard was a mess.

"They dug it up dug some holes, buried something, and left a mess, came a few days later and patched it up I guess," said Vogler.

WOW! also said they take responsibility when damage is done, but Martz said the city revoked one of their permits until it was fixed. He says it's now wasting city resources.

"We have to take staff off of other work to babysit them to make sure they fix the damage that they’ve caused," said Martz.

Martz says Altamonte Springs has created a coalition with Seminole and Orange County to discuss the problems and think about ways to enforce better practices so that their residents don’t suffer during installation.

Beep-powered shuttles to have 4 stops in Uptown Altamonte

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. – The city of Altamonte Springs on July 24 plans to begin CraneRIDES, a short circuit of autonomous climate-controlled shuttles to putter people around the Cranes Roost area.

It’s the latest local expansion from Beep, a Lake Nona-based autonomous shuttle company that we visited at launch in 2019. The years since have seen Beep branch out with new routes closer to home, but CraneRIDES will be the company’s first foray in Seminole County after Altamonte Springs commissioners awarded a bid in 2022 to get a pilot program up and running.

“This is about getting our community to adopt these and utilize them, whether it’s for individual transportation or families or groups,” Beep CEO Joe Moye said.

The two electric shuttles destined for Uptown Altamonte can hold eight passengers — or five passengers and one person in a wheelchair — and will travel up to 15 mph from Cranes Roost to the Altamonte Mall and back. Announcements broadcast in the vehicle will be in English and Spanish, and a trained attendant will be on hand to answer questions, address technical issues or drive the shuttle with a controller.

[TRENDING: Become a News 6 Insider]

“There will always be what I call a ‘human in the loop,’ but we are going to transition from that being physically on board to that being remote in the next couple years,” Moye said. “The vehicle basically has virtual rails and virtual eyes. It has sensors and cameras that operate the vehicle and determine if there’s an obstacle or a pedestrian it needs to respond to. Much safer than anything human-driven out there today.”

Altamonte Springs City Manager Frank Martz added not only does he think CraneRIDES is a great way to create an opportunity for residents to do something different, but it’s an incredible marketing opportunity.

“We are going to be talking to other cities around Seminole County and around Central Florida and around the state to show them this is how we implemented it, this is how we procured, this is how we did the burn in, this is how we did the communication, this is how we are doing policing on these vehicles,” Martz said. “So the idea is we are going to create essentially a manual and we’re going to be able to hand it other cities and say, ‘If you want to do this, here’s how we did it.’”

These shuttles won’t drive along State Road 436 or cross over Interstate 4, the city noted, adding the corridor designed for CraneRIDES is marked with high-visibility signage and shuttle icons on the pavement.

For its first year of service, riders will be able to use a smartphone application developed by Beep to track the shuttles along the following fixed service route:

The second year will see the program expand east to AdventHealth Altamonte, and the third year will bring in the Sunrail station as an additional stop.

“We are going to be talking to other cities around Seminole County and around Central Florida and around the state to show them this is how we implemented it. This is how we procured, this is how we did the burn in, this is how we did the communication, this is how we are doing policing on these vehicles,” Altamonte Springs City Manager Frank Martz said. “So the idea is we are going to create essentially a manual, and we’re going to be able to hand it to other cities and say, ‘If you want to do this, here’s how we did it.’”

Further information about the smartphone application is yet to be announced, according to the city.

Austin, Texas-based Torchy's Tacos has delayed the opening of its first local restaurant.

Success Foods Management Group LLC — which does business as Torchy's Tacos — said in an announcement it will not open its Altamonte Springs restaurant at 999 N. State Road 434 on Oct. 25 as previously announced. The location is poised to be the restaurant chain's second Florida location.

The chain said it did not have a new opening date to replace the former one. A reason for the delay was not immediately available.

New restaurants signal where a company is making investments and create jobs and business opportunities for local contractors, vendors and suppliers. In addition, they help landlords lease up shopping centers and provide an amenity for existing residents and workers in the area, helping make areas more desirable. They also can generate tax revenue and boost foot traffic to other nearby businesses.

The Altamonte location is not the only one in the works for the chain. As Orlando Business Journal previously reported, Torchy's has proposed restaurants in Orlando on Daryl Carter Parkway and in the former Red Robin space in Winter Garden Village.

Opening timelines for those potential locations were not immediately available. The company's job website does not list any openings for the location currently as of Oct. 2.

The chain's menu has tacos — including breakfast tacos — as well as salads, burritos, chips, queso, salsa, sides, desserts and a full bar.

Torchy's has 115 stores across 14 states, and founder and CEO Mike Rypka told OBJ sister publication Austin Business Journal that he hopes to reach a total of 120 by the end of the year. The concept started in 2006 as a food trailer.
